Yellow Creek Bridge opening
The Lotus Creek Wind Farm project achieved a milestone in October, with the official opening of the Yellow Creek Bridge.
Designed to transport wind turbines and blades over Yellow Creek – which also supplies water to one of our host landowners’ homes – the new 80 metre long and 6.5 metre-wide bridge has four spans of 18.6 metres plus two approach slabs which have been designed to support loads of more than 100 tonnes.
The bridge, which took six months to construct, is a vital link between the two halves of the project as roughly half the turbines will be on one side of the bridge, and the rest will be on the other side.
The bridge will also be a legacy part of the wind farm – it will be used for construction and ongoing operations for wind farm staff and technicians to be able to access the site, and also for our host landowners to access parts of their property for grazing and other activities that were previously really challenging to access.
Thank you to our construction delivery partners Zenviron and Vestas, and subcontractors Davbridge Constructions and Dundrum Civil Pty Ltd for their work on this project.
Construction update
The project has maintained positive momentum since the previous update in June. The main focus area has been civil construction activities, including substation construction, wind turbine foundation excavations and hardstands, and internal access tracks.
Work is also progressing on upgrades to St Lawrence Croydon Road to facilitate turbine deliveries while also improving safety for public vehicles and construction traffic.
In challenging terrain, our construction delivery partner’s subcontractor, FKG Group, has upgraded two public intersections and 5km of St Lawrence Croydon Road. Works included 18 full-width drainage crossings and causeways, and close to 50,000m3 of excavation. The laying of more than 30,000m3 of pavement and fill has commenced.
This work has been made cleaner and more efficient by crushing site rock. The crushing activities on site have kept more than 6,000 quarry trucks off public roads and added a huge recycling benefit to the project.

Project video series
Our construction partners Zenviron and Vestas are producing a video series to share a look behind the scenes of the project. The first two episodes are now available on YouTube and the project website.
Fact check – clarifying land clearing claims
Recent media reports have claimed that the Lotus Creek Wind Farm involves clearing more than 3,000 hectares of land. This is incorrect.
Under the project’s environmental approval, no more than 399.1 hectares can be cleared within the approved development footprint. This limit includes all temporary construction areas such as laydown zones, compounds and batching plants. These areas will be revegetated once construction is complete.
The 3,039 hectares mentioned in media reports refers to the broader project study area used during early environmental assessments conducted as part of the project’s development phase. This larger area was surveyed to identify ecological and cultural heritage values. The final clearing area of 399.1 hectares has been designed to carefully avoid and minimise impacts on environmentally and culturally sensitive areas.
Community Benefit Fund – Round 2 closes soon
Round 2 of the Lotus Creek Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund opened in September and will close on 7 November 2025.
Offering $100,000 annually through two rounds per year, the LCWF Community Benefit Fund offers funding support to local projects and events that create lasting impact in the Lotus Creek, Clarke Creek, St Lawrence and surrounding communities.
Following a successful first round earlier this year, we were able to provide groups within these communities with a first aid recovery shed, iPad upgrades, fridges and cash registers for the sportsground, a portable cold room, as well as funding towards a community playground, a student enrichment program, and the St Lawrence Campdraft.
More information and eligibility criteria for round 2 is available here.
